Preparing Your Home to Sell
First ask yourself: If you were buying this home what would you want to see?
The goal is to show a home which looks good, maximizes space and attracts as many buyers — and as much demand — as possible.
If you’re selling your house, this is the time to de-clutter.
Go through each room with an objective eye. Move items that are not necessary for everyday living. You can make your home look larger by making a spare room on shelves and in closets.
When you’re selling your house, look for broken or worn looking features.
Paint walls and cabinets that are dirty or dated. Neutral colors appeal to more buyers than bold. New paint is relatively cheap and freshens a room better than anything else.
Obviously, when you prepare your house to sell, be sure to clean.
A clean house is more appealing than an untidy one. Make sure the kitchen counters are cleared of clutter. Shine the bathroom fixtures, so they look fresh. Vacuum, fluff pillows and wash rugs.
Lastly, for a quicker sale and more showings you’ll want to attract attention from the moment potential buyers see your property, and that means enhancing its “curb appeal”.
A neat, clean yard is not an expensive investment. Clean windows and a freshly painted front door would also be appealing. Your goal is to show prospective buyer that your home is well maintained.
